Effect of ionization waves on dust chain formation in a DC discharge

چکیده
An interesting aspect of complex plasma is its ability to self-organize into a variety structural configurations and undergo transitions between these states. A striking phenomenon the isotropic-to-string transition observed in electrorheological under influence symmetric ion wakefield. Such have been investigated using Plasma Kristall-4 (PK-4) microgravity laboratory on International Space Station (ISS). Recent experiments numerical simulations shown that, PK-4 relevant discharge conditions, seemingly homogeneous DC column highly inhomogeneous, with large axial electric field oscillations associated ionization waves occurring microsecond time scales. multi-scale model dust-plasma interactions employed investigate role charge individual dust grains, wakefield, order string-like structures.
